How To Use Circle Cutter

Using a circle cutter for a button maker is essential for cutting precise circles from your designs before inserting them into the button machine.

Steps to Use a Circle Cutter for Button Making:

      1. Select the Correct

  • The common button sizes are 1 inch (25mm), 1.25 inches (32mm), 1.5 inches (37mm), 1.7 inches (44mm), 2 inches (50mm), 2.25 inches (58mm), and 3 inches (75mm). These size refer to the finished button size, not the paper/film size. When cutting the paper, adjust the circle cutter according to the corresponding paper size for the finished button.

     2. Prepare Your Design

  • Print or draw your design on paper, cardstock, or photo paper.
    • Regular cardstock (under 60lb/160 gsm). Glossy, matte, vellum, textures, glitter, indescent cardstock is not recommended.
    • 30Ib/115gsm double-side glossy photo paper; 37Ib/135gsm single side glossy photo paper.
    • Regular printer paper (no more than 60 lb). Thick cardboard or rigid materials won't crimp properly in the machine.
  • Ensure the artwork is centered where you want it cut.

     3. Position the Circle Cutter

  • Place the circle cutter over your design, aligning the blade with the area you want to cut.

    4. Cut the Circle

  • Hold the cutter firmly in place.
  • Rotate the blade smoothly in a full 360° motion to ensure a clean cut.
  • Apply even pressure to avoid jagged edges.
